15 years ago this month, we hosted the very first live auction on our art & antiques marketplace thesaleroom.com. That auction - held by Dreweatts - launched the modern era of internet bidding among UK regional auction houses and paved the way towards the world of online auctions as we know them today.

After a year that has magnified the importance of online, ATG's Publishing Director, Matt Ball, has taken a closer look at how far online auctions have come since that first auction in 2006, and why the future is exciting.
